Why we love the new 2020 Mercury PRO XS!

Review of our 2020 Mercury PRO XS 225 after a few months of running the motor on the boat.

Great 2 videos, thank you! I'm looking to repower with the same engine. I read that the ProXS has 1 muffler eliminated (instead of 2 on the regular V8's) so it's louder. While the V8 growl can sound good around the docks and at WOT, how loud is it when cruising and overall? I don't want it to be so loud when cruising on a plane, that it's annoying to the wife and kids (or me either). I also can't seem to find any detailed reviews or comparisons on the 225HP ProXS vs SeaPro V8. It seems like the SeaPro 225 V8 is commercial-rated for daily use/high hours, so it's tuned down with lower top RPM, for longer life. The ProXS has higher top RPM, and some sort of ignition/spark regulation to improve torque during heavy acceleration. I can't seem to find any other differences.
My 3 concerns with the ProXS, are any new technology things that can cause reliability down the road, much louder than the V8 Sea Pro, and long life. (I had my Yamaha HPDI for over 17 great years, with very few issues, and want the same for my next engine)
any thoughts/input would be great.

Merc makes good stuff. It's why I have them on every boat I buy. 6 of them over the years. From a 50 two-stroke, to a 150 ProXS four-stroke, to a 250 ProXS supercharged two-stroke. Great performers.
But another VERY KEY reason I buy them is no matter where in the US or Canada you fish....there is always several Merc dealers nearby to handle parts and service. That peace of mind is priceless.

Wise Move. The Yama V6, as you said, is a very good motor.
But the Mercury is Superb.
I read that Mercury, over the last 10 years, spent $800 Million in R&D.
Seems to have paid off, no?

Great video 😊. Have you heard about people with issues with the engine? There are forums where some have fuel pump, start, and paint flaking off the lower unit. Have you any experiences of these at all? I just purchased a Mercury 200 Pro XS and am keeping my fingers crossed 🤞.
