Ang Simbang Gabi

This liturgical song for Advent was composed by Fr. Carlo Magno Marcelo. It is appropriately sung during the Aguinaldo Masses, whether an Entrance song or a Recessional song. Rendering this song is the St. Michael the Archangel Male Choir, which regularly sings at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila. The Aguinaldo Masses are a nine-day novena tradition in preparation for the Solemnity of the Lord's Nativity (December 25). These Masses are an act of devotion to the Blessed Mother, that just as how she waited for nine months to give birth to her Son, we too with these remaining days of the Advent Season joyfully await with prayer and celebration the Birth of our Savior, who is always Emmanuel, God-with-us.
