I always try and save the cables of old computers and equipment as it useful for replacement on vintage gear

Yea! some Capacitors, always needed, as for the lawn mower video why not maybe better than all the Heathkit stuff ;-) 🙂

Ah, the IEC cables. Once you got enough electrical equipment, you can never have too many of them. At least not the correct ones. :) Recently I ordered a bunch of short cables, some angled, to cut down the cabling mess behind my test equipment, because included cables are usually too long.

Solder wick has a shelf life of around two years before the copper oxidizes too much. Not a good idea to buy in bulk to keep in storage.

+1 for the lawn mower, if you do a good job I'll send mine over. On mine the spring clutch has gone so no drive to roller
, pushing it is killing me. But good exercise the wife tells me. :-(

Some mains cables might have copper coated wire, not copper wire

The IEC cables could be crap at the strain relief. Bought myself a TS100 soldering pen and the cable (C5) they shipped with the power supply came apart at the strain relief.

@Defpom, I'm a computer consultant across the ditch in Oz, I got heaps of those IEC cables, can send some if the postage is not too expensive and it should arrive quicker than from China
