I read something interesting about how China is making Africa is own "China" if that makes sense and doing much the same thing as the 'west' did so far as resource extraction and then making use of cheap labor. Not so much with the moving in, but the other two things for sure. Like, China is building railroads and such just like the west did, but its always in the direction of outwards from the african country as is always the way.

Don’t forget the millions worth of resources stolen from the Native Peoples in North, Central and South American. European countries and the US really benefitted as significantly from this as from slavery (including the slave trade).
