Wasn't really complicated for me. Just needed the right sized picture. Works perfectly well, and the 6-7 years I've been playing Xbox, I did this for the first time.

Simplest way-> Grab your phone, go on the Xbox app, press on your profile icon in the bottom right, and just click on your picture and you can select from your camera roll.
