The Texas Longhorns held their first scrimmage of the fall this past Saturday and the consistent theme was that the defense won the day. Is there more cause for concern for the offense or simply praise for the defense being ahead of schedule? #HookEm

Keep in mind the only skill position player returning on the offense is Ewers. So yeah the offense is gonna lag as this is there first together since the spring. Plus losing Baxter probably lead to some changes in what the offensive game plan is oriented around.

They're gonna lag the first part of the season but I think they'll be better as it continues

What you have pointed out for the offense has been my concerns about Ewers and he is the primary concern for me, despite the success the team had last season he's never made me feel confident that he is that Heisman level player, best player on the team or elite QB. He feels ironically like Dak Prescott does in the NFL, he's clearly talented but he has too many weapons to have this many issues with getting it done and feels more like a product of the environment vs the other way around. I hope I'm wrong bc I'd prefer the team to have immediate success in their 1st season in the SEC.

"closer to who you are, than who you want to be". This is the kind of cliche that drives me crazy. Isn't this true 100% of the time for every team in every sport until/unless they win the championship? I appreciate this podcast, but please try to avoid the cliches.
