World of Wong Kar Wai Criterion Collection Set Unboxing!

I unbox my copy of World of Wong Kar Wai, the recently released Criterion Collection 7 film box set from Hong Kong filmmaker extraordinaire Wong Kar Wai. Wonderful box set! Love the art direction. Chungking was a huge jump in his and Doyle’s collaboration that would cement his influential style and genius. I believe that In the Mood For Love is still on HBO Max if you’d like to check it out before buying it. Amazing film indeed. Art in motion. I will be picking this up and look forward to 2046 finally getting on blue ray. Hope that First Love: Litter On the Breeze will one day make it on Blu-ray! That was a brilliant hilarious film too. Not directed but produced by WKW and the DP was none other than Chris Doyle. Its not everyone’s cup of tea but if you’ve not seen it it’s definitely worth picking up.

My favourite WKW film is Fallen Angels, I love the super stylistic aesthetic with that 6mm lens and the characters are just so much fun

Happy for you James! I just got mine online from the Criterion sale. I could never find this online becuz they were always out of stock! So happy to finally have gotten this. And yeah it was quite pricey in retail price. Chungking Express blew me away…. Can’t wait to experience the rest of Wong Kar Wai’s other films !!!

Another great video James. I hate to admit it, but I have nevere seen a Wong Kar Wai film. I have been aware of I'm in the Mood for Love and Chungking Express for many years but never got around to seeing them. Your video for this set is fantastic and I love the detail you bring to the description of the packaging and the films themselves. Just got mine, along with the Bruce Lee box, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and War of the Worlds, ordered on the B&N Sale. Also got Kubrick's Dr Strangelove for a friend. Can't wait to dive into this and the Bruce Box. One thing you forgot to mention is the texture of the paper they used. It just feels luxurious. I love how the presentation is designed almost like a puzzle box.

I struggle between In the Mood for Love, and Happy Together, as my favourite WKW film. In essence, I cannot choose. It would be a Sophie's Choice :( That aside, I adore your presentation, dude. you made my day!
