Finally! I've been stand offish with using LUTs in my workflow even though I have the equipment and means to incorporate it but I have been pushing myself to try new things in my workflow in order to grow as a cinematographer. I think the Film LUTS should be applied after a clip has been converted to rec709 with the associated camera colorspaces AND then converted to Cineon Log. After it is properly converted to CIneon Log the film LUTS can properly be applied. You will still need a CC node before before the nodes, but Cineon Logspace is the standard because film LUTS are created specifically for Cineon Log files. Just my two cents. :) I was composite on a couple Spider-man movies and that's how we rolled. :)

Your method will work and will get good results, but each film stock LUT will be altered in the process.
