50 Years Later, Vietnam Veteran Meets Daughter He Didn't Know Existed

A recent phone call from a total stranger just made Gary Barnes' life even more full. It turns out she was no stranger at all.

Imagine living until you’re almost 80, thinking “Damn.. I never had a kid. No one to pass my blood down. No one to carry me in their veins until for generations to come”
And all of a sudden, you find out you have not only a daughter, but grandchildren?
I’d probably kick the bucket right there from being overjoyed.

This was so heartwarming. And Olivia is absolutely stunning and her dad seems so proud and invested in building a relationship with his newfound daughter. I’m still amazed at how young she looks, my jaw dropped when she said she was 50.

Gary was quite a looker in his younger years and produced a most beautiful, loving, and caring daughter. Her Mom must have been beautiful, proud, and strong to raise such a wonderful daughter. Loved this meeting of father and daughter.

Love to hear about her mother. Gary and her mother were obviously close if the daughter knew enough to track him down, her mother knew who the father was. In times of war people seek out the comfort of others even if it's only for a short time, and that short time personal connection with someone means everything to you during that time. Whether it's sexually intimate, or local who you became friends with, etc. Something outside of the stress of being on duty. I'm glad her parents found each other to get through that difficult time. That's another chapter in this story I'd like to hear. Congratulations to these two. Somehow I think finding out about these things later in life makes them that much sweeter because you're both at a maturity level that creates a stronger bond more immediately.
