C Programming Tutorials - Lesson 1 - Getting Started and Hello World

Welcome to Lesson One of my C Programming Tutorials.
In this video we:
- Discuss how to start programming in C on a Unix machine, using GNU C Compiler (gcc)
- Learn how to run our programs using the command line

If you need to run Ubuntu, try a virtual machine

There are many good tutorials online for how to install it on a virtual machine.

If you are running on a Mac, you should be already good to go!

These tutorials should be sufficient for any first year University C Programming courses

Hey all, I'm 20 years old from Ontario, Canada. Currently an undergrad at the University of Guelph, studying Computer Science.

I have just finished my 4th semester of study and figured I could help some of you youtube peoples that have always wanted to learn a bit of programming, but don't know where to start.

Keep in mind, I'm not the be-all-end-all of coding, I do make mistakes, I do say things that arent always true. I encourage you to call me out on it, but keep the flaming to a minimum.

This channel is meant to be a fun, light-hearted approach to programming! We will be going through tutorials, a multitude of texts in a few different languages. I hope you all enjoy it!!

Just a tip:  ensuring terminal and/or edit windows have a really big font can be very useful for making sure people watching your video can read the contents of those windows (especially on youtube, where the player size is typically pretty small).

I'm still learning in this regard, too ... I've set my fonts fairly large for some of my videos, and am still thinking they need to be even larger :)
