On Wednesday, January 1 reports started coming in that Lusi has been discharged after spending some days at a Shanghai hospital, and was recuperating at a friend's place.

It started when on December 18 news broke that Lusi apparently collapsed on a set where she was filming, and rushed to the hospital. Videos allegedly showing her on a wheelchair went viral on the internet. Reports by Chinese media claimed that the 26-year-old fell ill during the production of her latest project. Many even shared that she appeared weak and unsteady when her team got her to the hospital. Fans were quick to speculate she was either facing severe depression or some neurological condition due to possible work-related stress.

Zhao Lusi's friend allegedly shared shocking details

Amid more videos and clips showing her struggling to eat, stand, walk and do daily activities, a friend revealed the harrowing treatment Lusi faced in the hands of her agency. In posts shared on Weibo, the alleged friend stated that she wrote it after visiting Lusi at the hospital and claimed she was revealing it with due permission from the actor.

According to the friend, Lusi had been berated by staff for over two hours in 2019 attacking her talent, visuals and weight, among other things. She was even verbally abused leaving her deeply affected.
