ALRIGHT!!! LORE SUMMARY OF THIS EPISODE/THEORY TIME!!!

So, the video-tape (found last episode) drops some lovely lore tidbits. Beyond showing the "normal" process of drone disposal, the key facts to glean is that if a drone is improperly disposed of, especially if the core is not removed, there is a 1/100 chance of a drone rejects the shutdown code. This can happen immediately or within a 5-year period. More importantly, there is a chance of complications if a drone "reanimates". Normally there is little to worry about 70.3% of the time, and 29% of the user can simply be fully locked out of the terminal, which I would understand to be the controls. HOWEVER, that critical last 0.7% chance? *"Potentially hazardous mutations"*. We then see an improperly disposed of drone reanimate, which if you look closely at the core, you can recognize that the drone in question is *CYN*. The implication being, in my mind, that Cyn was that 1 in 7000 percent chance of a drone mutating upon revival. Now, whether her transformation into an eldritch creature was fully because of said mutation or simply opened her up to influence beyond the veil... unclear, neither option being good.

Beyond that, there is more character implications beyond Cyn's revival. For one, I believe that Tessa's family, the Elliots, were the ones that threw her out improperly, given the dialogue and their clear disdain and lack of empathy beyond anyone but themselves. That would also explain how Tessa could easily salvage them. Indeed, I think N, V, J, and Cyn were all illegally dumped drones that Tessa salvaged and customized, given her mother's comments and the flashback in Episode 2. It would also explain Cyn's difficulties and quirks even beyond the horror. The illegal dumping process likely damaged her systems. Tessa is, or was, the white sheep of the family. There is also the question of how much Cyn cares for her fellow drones and Tessa. She does *seem* to care about them at points, given that she seems to want to protect Tessa from seeing the massacre, and her comments about not wanting to see drones thrown out again. However, later in the episode she clearly has no qualms about murdering N, and everything is muddled given the wonky time frame of the episode, given most is memory. My theory, given that Cyn's declarations of protection happened when N could not have witnessed it, was that Cyn USED to care, but over time her morality got worn down or, if there IS an entity influencing her, may have been overwritten.

All that leads into the questions. What did she do post massacre? What's her connection to the devastation of the planet? And, more critically, where is she now? She clearly has a mental influence over all drones, both shown by her mutation of Uzi in episode 4, her hijacking of J's body in 2, and the text shown in N's reboot in 1. I have a few theories. 1. That Cyn tried to wage total war against humanity, and the destruction of the planet wasn't an accident, but a last ditch resort to kill Cyn's mind-controlled monsters. 2. That JCJenson crafted the Murder Drones as a sort of man-made equivalent to Cyn's organic prototypes; a way to combat fire with fire. As for where she is now, while it's possible Cyn doesn't HAVE a physical body anymore, if she DOES, there is only one place I think it could be: The planet's core. The destruction of the planet was explicitly mentioned to be core collapse, and the cockroach that is the "key" mentioned an elevator. In the attempt to defeat Cyn, I theorize that the gang will have to infiltrate the planet's depths and destroy Cyn's body for good. Otherwise, if Cyn wakes up entirely, she could very well mass brainwash all drones and convert them into a personal army. And given there is a whole SPIRE of improperly disposed of drone corpses free to reanimate and mutate... the price for failure could be catastrophic.

Cyn was in Episode 2 in the flashback. She was the "new drone" that Tessa introduced.

This episode doesn't normally warrant any "jump into the comments and explain everything to Nenaa" but there is one thing that isn't really... obvious or easy to tell on a first viewing: N doesn't actually go into the basement in his memories. So, when the snake crab threatens to reset his memories in the basement, it's one of those "battle in the center of the mind" moments

And also Tessa and N seemed to be the only ones that respected(?) Cyn/Solver. Which might explain why Tessa is still alive… but then again idk if the other Humans are actually dead. If anyone is wondering where V is, she’s the drone standing on the basement door

Hi! I just wanted to point out that Cyn is on Copper-9, the same planet as Uzi, N, and V. You can see Cyn in the circle of Uzi’s flashlight back in episode 4 (Cabin Fever), right after she reads the calendar with the dog on it. You can also see a pair of yellow eyes (Cyn’s eye color) reflected in a TV screen when N touches buttons on a control panel, causing its screen to glitch out and go black (therefore reflecting the yellow eyes behind N). I’m sure others noticed too, but I just wanted put it out there.
