International news sources reported the facts of today's Cuban protests more objectively with less appeal to emotional rhetoric. "Cuba is going through its worst economic crisis in decades, along with a resurgence of coronavirus cases, as it suffers the consequences of US sanctions imposed by the Trump administration...An official in the Biden administration tweeted support for Sunday’s demonstrations..."
Regular Americans posted some useful comments:
"President Obama deserves a lot of credit for providing support to the Cuban people and starting the process of opening their economy. Without Obama’s efforts the Cubans would not be protesting today, and I hope Biden will follow Obama’s plans and help the Cuban people overthrow their dictators..."
"Protest is healthy and timely. Cuba’s government is evolving away from dictatorship. There was support for this under Obama. Trump shut down any hope of diplomatic pressure..."
"The challenge will be to strike a balance: less authoritarian, more democratic government but not letting the country be inundated by foreign corporate interests..."
