i don't agree with you when you say it is not an excellent movie. And yes the relation between the guy and the girl is the key. If he had not met her he wouldnt have smoked weed and would be on the main sub. The main sub would have thrown the nuclear bomb because the sonar tech analyzer couldnt have known about the fake terrorist nuclear bomb.
You should look this movie again.

This movie went from really good to bad to good to bad to good again. The English dub was kind of silly some things seemed lost in translation. Some parts of the plot just seemed unnecessary to add tension. Like the main character is supposed to be really good at his job, like the best, but everyone is always yelling at him and second guessing him. Then he almost gets arrested for doing his job and not even 30 seconds later they say nevermind your not in trouble?

Just watched this and literally everything could have been avoided if they did what they ended up doing in the end. They have two way communication between the subs, and one is silent. Rather than explain the situation over communication they just say are u there confirm. Why not explain situation since they could hear. They cut to a shot to where whole group people including the main guy and it's like nobody thought to just explain wtf was going on. This movie has some good stuff going for it, but some bad stuff as well hard to explain unless you watch.
