How to back up GBA save files using a Action Replay or Flashcard.

Here's a tutorial on how to back up GBA save files with only an Action Replay DSi or any slot 1 flashcard. This should work with any GBA game, and will back up games that use both save types.


Save files will be dumped as .SAV files, ready for uploading to gamefaqs, hex editing, and using in VBA.

Okay, what else do I need? I have an AR DSi w/ the Micro SD port. I put everything on there and it gives me an error message telling me this.

For anyone who has troubles with DLDI patch.

Remember the guy in the Video uses a different Cheat Device which means you have to use the DLDI Patch i mentioned in Step 1 above.




And for all People who have trouble CREATING save files, you have to use a 2GB or less Micro SD Card like the guy in this video, otherwise savefiles cannot be created.

Mine says BPRP or whatever 00 instead of 01 and it just says file searching and it wont save it

What kind of Action Replay did you use. Mine has an SD card slot, but doesn't have an option called "Files". It is an Action Replay Max DS.

Can you delete the save off of the GBA cartridge?

You should be able to. It works the same with a flashkart because basically the AR IS a flashkart.

Internal batteries don't hold saves on GBA games. :B GBA uses Flash memory :D
