Hitler's Last Stand: The Fall of Berlin in 1945

The Battle of Berlin in April 1945 marked Hitler's last stand and the fall of Nazi Germany. As Soviet forces encircled and fought their way into the city, Hitler retreated to his underground bunker, where he married Eva Braun shortly before they both committed suicide on April 30. The fierce urban combat, marked by dwindling German resources and desperate resistance, ended with the surrender of Berlin on May 2, effectively ending World War II in Europe.
