Great video and information guys! We got stuck (mechanical) last year in DR for 4 hrs causing us to miss our connector back to Wpg so we got stuck in Toronto for 2 days. WestJet paid for our food/hotel but didn't think of asking for additional compensation. May have to revisit that incident and try lol. We went back to Cuba (Varadero) for the first time in 2023 but disappointed with the goods/services so wont be back for awhile. Cheers!!

Wow! You guys handled that like pros! I'd be so upset about a 2 day delay. I manage a breakfast restaurant and I usually work the morning after we get home from a trip. I would be so stressed out, scrambling to cover shifts and make sure orders get placed, etc... I can't wait until retirement!😂😂😂

This is a very informative video! Similarly, we had a 20 hour delay out of Varadero last year. It was not weather related, so we were stuck at the airport for approximately 10+ hours. Not the best way to end a vacation. Sunwing did organize a stay at another resort, but it was chaos due to all of the passengers, and the other guests. Unfortunately, we were not eligible for any compensation. You are right, patience is key during these situations. We are still looking forward to future vacations and more sun and fun! 🏖️

We received compensation from Air Canada also for delays coming home from Punta Cana. It's a federal gov't thing not a specific airline compensation pkg.

Very informative video. One question though, who actually paid for the extra 2 days? Did the resort just do it out of the goodness of their heart or did the Sunwing rep get Sunwing to pay?

I think some sort of delay/issue is to be expected when travelling to Cuba. Glad it went well though. How is Varadero coping?

I can't believe the resort let you stay an extra two days! That would never happen in Mexico. If you need to stay 2 more days in Cancun, that would be $500 per day! Kudos to Sunwing for handling the compensation claim.
