Beltane ‘Fires of Bel’ – The Celtic “May Day” festival at the beginning of Summer

Beltane first appears in written history in early medieval texts, so it is likely to predate the period. Historical texts also show that it may have initially held more importance to the herders than crop farmers, but most of the lands adopted the festival.
