I have an M2 coming in the mail. I got 16G RAM... I was concerned about heating, not speed. Since my biggest concern is longevity, this is super comforting. I will definitely run on the low power setting.

I love that, went to a 10 year old kid in Turkey who does tech stuff and has his own channel, AND you subbed1 That is going to really pump up his confidence. Great stuff guys, cant wait to see you getting him on a video to see how excited he is!

Good for the young man from Turkey!

The lower power mode is phenomenal. It slows down the thermal cycling of the silicon and longer battery life. A great addition of the performance core for a slight boost. All and all a wonderful engineering solution. Apple really needs to publicize this feature. It is honestly the best of both worlds.

I would really love a Battery 🔋 comparison test between a normal and low power mode to see the difference in battery times. For M1 MBA, M1 14" Pro and M2 MBA. All the best to 1 Million subs! You shld do a celebration video for that!

For reference: the multicore performance score of the M2 air in low power mode is around 1000 points higher than the full performance score of my 2019 intel 6 core i7 MBP. Thankfully I upgraded to a 16 inch M1 Pro as my daily driver.

Makes total sense. We already knew that the biggest generation gains were with the efficiency cores. Glad that Apple gives the user the option to really leverage those gains!

I have to admit, you guys have had some really solid M2 coverage. Nice job! Congrats on the million subs, and congrats to the winner of the giveaway!

The Apple Sales guy who is a video guy showed me his favorite “magic trick” with the M2 Air. He opened all 53 installed apps at the same time, then had me wave at the camera to see that it had no lag. Amazing.

Now this is the real deal. I don't fully understand why Apple decided to get into Intel's silly game of throwing more powers at it to get some performance increase. They could have advertised this feature.

I use Low Power mode on my 14” Max all the time; it’s a great feature. I wish Apple would implement it as a slider, as I would like to be able to go even lower and maybe even higher if I really want to burn amps :-)

To be honest, the M series E core makes more sense than Intel’s “E-core”, intel’s hybrid P+E strategy seems like a have to do to compete with AMD’s high core account. I had an I9 12900H Asus scar 17, when I tried to disable all E core in bios the laptop just shut down and gave me a hardware error “CPU defect”. This means intel doesn’t give users an option to use P-core only or E-core only. The poor utilization makes 12th gen mobile look not very good to me.
After I saw your testing on M2 low battery mode "full E-core mode", it is a must-have feature for all Macbook Air users due to the fan-less, P-core in M2 Air becoming a performance booster when you really need them under specific circumstances. I was thinking the M2 iPad pro will be a grill pan, after I saw this video, M2 iPad Pro totally makes sense for me now.

Great video. Thanks for showing us the low power mode. I was still in dilema whether to buy m1 or m2 Air. But now I am definitely going for M2 Air.

Please do a real-life/mixed test on battery life on
"High performance mode" vs "Low power mode" to show us the battery life comparison.

Wish there was a setting somewhere in between, that perhaps uses 4 efficiency cores and maybe 2 performance cores, targeting a cap of say 75º C for a bit more headroom than the low power mode.

Apple's M2 MacBook Air... Nothing short of wizardry... The power consumption... The performance... 😌

That is crazy. If I ever get a new M2 MacBook Air or another new MacBook I will have try it. Congrats to whoever it was that won.

That’s insane! I’m considering buying my first MacBook since 2008 (currently using an iPad Pro as my main machine). The M2 Air has been very tempting, but have been leaning towards the M1 Air with it’s still amazing performance and battery life to save some cash. But if this level of low power efficiency performance is unique to the M2, makes the decision that much more difficult… 😐. I’m guessing for most people in the market for such a device, you can keep the low power mode on permanently and unlikely to notice much (if any) decrease in performance. Great video as always!

Extraordinary stuff! This does rather change the overall impression of the M2 MacBook Air, for the better. You revealed a lot of disappointing stuff, but this, at least, is a positive.

What if apple make the power option more choices, someting like 3 to 5 steps about low to high performances option.. Will be great.
