How many readers remember the “pet rock” a few decades back? Some guy took some ordinary small river rocks, put two sticky eyes and a nose on each one. Placed them in a for sale bin at his friends small store with $1 price tag and the statement “I can be YOUR FRIEND”. They sold out in minutes. He started making them as fast as he and his family could make them and sold them to larger department stores. In a matter of weeks he accumulated a million dollars in profit. The craze lasted almost a year before it died out.

my opinion with stuff like crystal healing is if you feel pain, and this crystal makes it better, that's one less person the actual health service needs to deal with. It's often weaponised placebo, but sometimes it's as medically sound as what the doctor might prescribe anyway.

Made so many questions I had to learn to stop questioning everything out loud. It doesn't work in society. Be curious and ask questions, yes, but only when it's appropriate to do so. You don't want to be the a-hole that ruins a moment for a group just because you "want the truth." I learned the hard way that questions and truth aren't the only way to live life, especially around other people. If you want to be able to socialize effectively, please do not do what I did and ask questions constantly. Especially if the subject in question is generally questionable to begin with.

My dad said to ask where they got their credentials. That helps you figure out whether it's worthwhile when you consider the source.

I don't buy into crystals but I do believe sometimes a leap of faith is needed. Do you really think when people first rubbed aloe vera on burns they knew the chemistry behind it? Or was it more like, " rub this plant on your burn and it will feel better and heal quicker"?

I was in one these magic crystal stores, being a tourist, and these people were having a conversation about how humans used to breathe through the top of their skull, and this guy said he teaches a class on reconnecting with this breathing style. I left the store. These people scare me.
