Red Sea anemone fish ( Amphiprion bicinctus ) .. Reach up to 11 cm. at depth 1 - 30 m. It lives in pairs or family groups associated with the anemones Entacmaea quadricolor , Heteractis aurora and Stichodactyla gigantea . The more host anemones are available in a certain area , the larger the family group can be . adults are extremely territorial , never stray far from their anemone that provides shelter against predators by means of its nettling tentacles . The fishes themselves are protected by a method of chemical stealth . A pair of anemone fish defends its home vigorously against any intruder , and may bump into its own image reflected in the front glass of a diving mask if the diver comes too close , short croaking noises included .
