Congrats on the 1 Month ahead. YOU DID THAT!!! After losing my job in January I finally started a new career on Monday. It’s a pretty good salary and I want to set new financial goals to at least finish the last 5 months of the year strong. God always makes a way through the ups and definitely the downs. 😊

I also get paid three times in August and I pay all my bills with two checks but the trick for the third check to be a bonus check is that it’s usually the following month so you stay on track with your due dates. So my third check is really in the end of September. Also don’t forget to minus all your weekly spending money and any auto savings you have from your check.

the magic month works, depends on where bills are situated thru the mth, if only a small amount of bills/debt due in order to feel that extra.. thats how it works for me

I think magic months only work if you’re a month ahead. If you’re budgeting your bills in August to pay for Septembers mortgage/bills then you’ll be fine to throw that third paycheck to whatever. But if you’re not ahead that 3rd paycheck will help you get on track to paying things earlier. Hope this makes sense. 😊

I love the budget mom budget sheets. I feel they help my budget to be so much more organized. For the last 17 years I have been paid once a month. When I used to get paid bi-weekly, I definitely could feel the 3 paycheck months. What I used to do that worked for me was I didn’t do any sinking funds or savings challenges from my main two pay checks. I would pay bills/living expenses only, and any extra from the first check I would put in a bills envelope. I would give it a job of helping the second pay check with covering everything for the second part of the month. Then the third paycheck I would use all for savings challenges, sinking funds.. By doing it this way, I always felt rich being able to put a whole paycheck to savings.

I always use the last paycheck if the previous month and the first paycheck of the current month to pay the current month’s bills (because my mortgage is due the 1st). So when Nov hits (my next 3 pay check month)- November bills will be paid with my October 18th check and Nov 1 check. Nov 15th check is “extra” and Nov 30 pays part of Dec.

I think with the extra pay check, you get to save a little more and maybe make an extra payment on something you owe, at least, that's what I think. I could be way off with this thought process. I don’t know how you wouldn’t feel the 3rd check, but I split most of my bills between paychecks anyway so maybe that’s why. I split my mortgage and a lot of my larger minimums between checks, basing on 2 checks per month, instead of eating them all in one. I base everything off getting 2 checks per month. I’m putting an extra $1300 in savings with my extra check, but it’s spread throughout the month.
