Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords Of Dave Matthews Band. I've noticed a few requests to feature some of Dave Matthews Band's music, and while I did create a Three-For-All episode last year for Tim Reynolds where we focused on some of his fiery licks - this time we're hitting some of their interesting/lush chord voicings, progressions, and rhythm work.

The chord-focused ideas in this episode come from Dave Matthews Band's first three albums - Remember Two Things, Under The Table And Dreaming, and Crash, and includes examples from songs such as 'Typical Situation,' 'Tripping Billies,' '#41,' 'Two Step,' 'Lover Lay Down,' 'Recently,' and many more!

Needless to say, if you're a Dave Matthews Band fan, an acoustic guitarist, or just a player looking for some new chord-based ideas to experiment with - this lesson is totally for you!
Give this episode a view, leave some comments/feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!

Thank you for giving Dave some recognition, a very underrated guitar player, and he sings while he's playing those crazy riffs!!!

I swear, every time I think to myself "oohh, I know where he's gonna go with this one" ...cuz like, in my own little bubble-world, I am the reigning music geek queen....but man, every time you come from some cool angle I never would have thought of, and deep insights into some things I've never heard or read about. I think this might be the most rewarding youtube channel. There are the deep dives in to both the history and also the methods behind the great madness, and hours upon hours of really good and shed-worthy material. My head is still spinning from the Gilmour episode...I'm gonna have to like, pace my LNL

I never really paid attention to Dave Matthews but now I have a reason to. Thanks Dave!

Ah, Bosko. So many good times at Little Cheers! I occasionally spend hours just playing around with that Two Step progression, and also the one from Lie In Our Graves. DMB is why I wanted to learn, and I’ll forever be grateful that I got to be one of those students who brought in some Dave to our lessons. 🤘🤘

Glad to see your subs rising, sonn be up to 100k, and not before time, some tasty chord voicings here, always fascinated me, the partially open/fretted chord voicings, I havs always loved your love of chords /progressions, especially the more unusual types .

Back a few years ago I saw Tim Reynolds with his side gig band "TR3" at the Green Parrot in Key West. They did a mix of originals and covers. Tim and the boys were great!!!

Satellite reminds me a little of the finger stretch that is in "message in a bottle".

Neutral here but the open philosophy toward music is well put: some chord changes in BeeGees songs are cool.

Always learning something from you man. Maybe a chords of the wwe? I’m not sure if you’re a wrestling fan but there’s a lot of good riffs and songs in a lot of entrances

Your videos are a great asset. To me I see a similarity between the D.M. hiway and McCarthy's classic "Black bird".
