Welcome to Hobby Hardwood Alabama - a real, professional sawmill lumber production business, ranked by a national website as producing the highest quality wood in Alabama, of about 45 different species. We are not a video company, but we are a real lumber company, and want to show others some of our money making and business sawmill techniques. This video is another example of sawmilling for our business, Hobby Hardwood, Alabama. We show how we mill logs, dry them and other things on our outdoor farm. We use our amazing fleet of hardware and tools, such as our custom New Holland Tractor, Wood-Mizer LT-70 sawmill, as well as our Cantek planers, Baker edgers, and SLR machines in action, operation, milling and while sawing logs to lumber. The Woodmizer LT Super 70 sawmill is the the biggest, fasted and most automatic bandsaw mill Woodmizer makes, with joystick control and Diesel engine. Very few sawmills are this fast, including Baker, Morgan, Harbor Freight, Cooks, Northern, Timber King, Norwood, Woodland, chainsaw mill, and Hudson. It’s not an Amish Sawmill, but the fastest and most modern band mill Wood-Mizer makes, and produces the best lumber wood for wood working projects and our lumber business. We also showcase our Nyle Kilns and air drying lumber techniques. Lots of tips and tricks to make sawing and drying easier for beginners and professional woodworkers to keep our sawmill turning trees and logs into gold instead of firewood. My buddy, Nathan Elliot, of Out of the Woods Sawmill, OTW, convinced me I needed to start filming our operation, so here goes. Someday I want to have as many followers as other sawmill videos on Youtube, like Nathan and Outdoors With the Morgans. We show how to make money with your sawmill, and pass on our how-to tips and tricks for better sawmilling. Watch us use our sawmill, chainsaw mill, band saw, and bandsaw.

Joe Maine (229) 563-1172 makes my bands for me, using WM Turbo Silvertip stock, 0.055" x 1.5". He is in Georgia but can ship anywhere. The best I have used.

Considering how much this machine costs for what it is they should have fixed all this at the factory. I am seeing a lot of posts about failures on these expensive machines. Make me definitely consider building one from scratch with parts from an old engine head (the cams and cam follower)

Just watched this one again. I've had mine for a few years longer than you and I had to make a few tweaks to it but didn't have to add any spacer to get the pause.

Great observation and excellent modifications to improve the units performance. I spent 43 years working in a manufacturing (chewing gum plant) as a mechanic and machine repair technician; haven't seen too many folks that have the ability to access and correct problems - my hats off to you!

I have the same setter. I’m finding the left side setter is inconsistent. The setter on the right side sets the teeth dead on.

If I adjust the left to compensate the lack of set then I end up with some teeth that are past the desired setting.

Wondering if adding the washer shim to the spring will help.

Thanks for putting out your videos; they’re very educational.

Maybe another video on your current band situation.
Have you bought bands yet since Joe Maine is Woodmizer?

I Finley got mine to pause it just isn’t consistent with the indicated tooth set it says it’s 24 but it will actually by the hand held be 20 or 18

How do you get the pall to land in the gullet when advancing the blade. Mine comes right back up to the tip and then it slams the blade forward?

Thank you for sharing this Robert! I have the same setter and hate using it. I’ll try theses adjustments and see what happens.

This video came at just the right time! I bought the same exact setter, used this past winter and I'm just now getting around to setting it up and using it with a Cook's Cat Claw sharpener I bought as well. Thanks for sharing Robert and keep the videos coming.

Do you still like this setter? I’ve been looking at it but wonder what to do about remedying over set teeth. I have the cooks double setter and while it’s manual and slower fixing overset teeth is straightforward.

Also, is there such thing as a “deserter” to get an overset band back under target set?

Thanks!

That looks a lot easier than their manual tooth setter
