A message from our CEO, Filippos Venetopoulos.
Dear Friends & Family,
As you all know the year 2020 has been a challenging year filled with heartbreaking loss, but it has also been a year of opportunity for growth and unification, bringing us closer to each other and the things that matter the most. As we recap our 2020 season offering tribute to the end of the summer, we find ourselves grateful for all the opportunities we have had to grow as a company with the support and faith of our guests, crew, and communities we visit.
Our Journey back to the Seas : July 24, 2020
Following a successful season of cruises world-wide in the early year, upon the news of the pandemic we immediately shut down our operations after safely ensuring the return of our guests back to their home countries and safely returning our fleet to our home base, keeping the safety of our crew as our number one priority. After a period of thorough safety and protocol examination we decided to return to the Seas, becoming the first cruise line to safely return to the Mediterranean. We consulted with top government and health officials, and created a high standard Safety Protocol that among numerous safety measures includes: (1) decreasing our capacity by 30% to ensure social distancing measures, (2) providing our guests and crew with comfortable breathing masks for all interior and exterior spaces whenever social distancing is not possible, (3) going a step further when it comes to disinfection by not only applying the standard UV lamp purification, but by investing in PURE SPACE technology a state of the art air and surface purification system (4) providing comfortable-yet-tight health procedures including daily temperature checks and oxygen count, and last but not least (5) adapting our itineraries to ensure the safety of our guests and the communities we visit.
We are grateful and proud that our measures ensured a successful operation throughout the season with zero Covid-19 cases creating a treasure of memories for our guests and a very positive reaction by the media in honor of our safe and successful operation. We may have small ships, but we make great leaps.
In other news, we were able to complete a fully functioning clean water supply system at our School in Lamin Koto while celebrating the first INSIDE OUT art initiative at the school we visit during our West Africa cruise, honoring our patrons Tony & Tifanny Reimer and Marco Maranghello.
We also had the UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY of supporting a crew stranded at Sea on board an MSC ship as a consequence of the quarantine regulations, which we were able to safely return to their home in Cuba. We celebrate the safe return of our new friends and thank our Captains for their courage and swift decisive nature. Additionally part of our fleet was made available to the Greek health ministry as well as to the United Nations as a safety contingency plan in case of outbreaks where the nature of our small ships could provide valuable.
We invite you to join us on our continued journey at Sea that began in 1949 as we venture into the unknown together embracing the pleasure and joy of discovering the world at Sea with the safety and care of the communities we visit and that of our family at Sea: YOU.
Stay tuned as we launch our Seychelles and Greece cruises, while we safely plan our return to our long list of exciting destinations across 5 continents one by one.
SEA you Soon…
