Really? The war ended seven decades ago and we're still doing this? The man was a guard for christ's sake. It's even explicitly stated that no evicence could be found that tied him to any of the killings directly. They are prosecuting him simply based on the fact that he was present somewhere in the camp during the times where these killings are estimated to have taken place. To what end? Just so we can still make someone suffer before all the people who were alive at the time are gone? Hasn't the war claimed enough victims already? Yes, what happened during WW2 was horrible beyond words. Nobody's disputing that. But how is prosecuting a man who is on the verge of death, who held a minor role in the operation of the camp, going to make it right? Seriously, he's old enough that he might not even survive the trip to prison if he's found guilty and prosecuting him is not going to undo or help anything. At some point you have to let bygones be bygones and focus on the future instead of being trapped in the sins of the past.
There is no evidence to support that this man carried out any of the killings. There's no evidence that he agreed with what the nazis were doing in any way. On top of that, it's a well know fact that the nazis would execute traitors and sometimes even throw them in the concentration camps with the jews. Plus he was estimated to have been 18-20 years old at the time. With that in mind it's reasonable to conclude that he could have been there against his will for fear of his life. I say let the man live the few months or years that he has left and then let him die in peace. Trying to punish him now just for being there would not be justice.

Funny how young men today are granted benevolence in court and this guy will be trialed for crimes he committed when he was a young man too. Do we know if he willingly participated in any killings or bad treatment? We don't.
