How to protect your base:
1. Make it far away from spawn, use nether tunnels to make the path faster, since 1 block in the nether is 8 blocks in the overworld but remove your path.
2. Make your base underground
3. Defend with obsidian which is very easy to get, it just takes a long time, use a haste 2 beacon and efficiency 5.
4. Cover your base with traps so experienced players can't get in
