For context, Neil was asked what day of the week it was

As an agnostic, I always use BC and AD and always will

Neil is so genuine. No motive. Just desires not to be a jerk and follow the science....

That's a voice of reason. Too much of life we try to make all or nothing.

Not to mention that BCE (Before Common Era) is inaccurate because whatever we call the Common Era is subjective and not objectively revolving around Jesus' time. BC is more accurate.

As a child, I learned BC as meaning "Before Christ, " and AD means "After Death" of Christ.

I usually say BCE or CE I never really thought about it I mostly used it because it’s easier to remember things as they happened in the common era or before the common era but honestly I do get what he means

As an atheist, i also use bc and ad because bce doesnt even make sense and also to give proper credit

actually, BCE arose precisely in religious studies when it became clear that the archeological evidence points to Jesus of Nazareth being born about 4 years earlier than it is traditionally thought. So they began using BCE because saying Christ was born "4 years before Christ" makes no sense.

In Sweden we use f.k and e.k (before christ and after christ)

Hm. In Russia we use "before our era" and "of our era" ("до нашей эры / нашей эры). Never compared that to its English counterpart.

It's not that much of a de-religious thing for me. It's just that year 1 is not the accurate time when historical jesus was born, so it is not before or after christ, it's just an arbitrary date
