In Matthew 6:19-34, Jesus speaks about the desires of our hearts. We can’t serve both God and our own desires.
God knows our hearts and how they can be tempted by our desires, which can lead us to sin. We then find ourselves getting anxious about things God commands us not to be anxious over. This is because God is not our first desire. Instead, we have chosen other things to fill that spot in our hearts, allowing those things to master us.
Not all desires are bad, but maybe you have valued some things higher than God.
Read Matthew 6:19-34 and James 1:14-15 and 2:4, and ask yourself this question: What would devastate you if it were to be taken away? As the Lord reveals things to you, respond in humility and repentance, and ask Him to make His desires your desires.
