How to Clone a Virtual Machine using HyperV

I know this is an old post but it was very helpful. The coolest thing is, you can also use that exported VM and import it multiple times to create multiple working copies.

easier than that, is just to copy the hard drive file .vhdx, then create a new VM that uses this Hard drive file .. But still Thank you for the nice video

If you want to run the same VM in two different hosts (a laptop and a PC for example), is it necessary to create 2 virtual machines? Do I have to double the space in disk (im using an external SSD to be able to connect and launch those VM from work and home).

Does this still apply with Windows 11 and its version of Hyper-V or is there a way to clone a Hyper V and basically do it faster? I read something about "WAC" but I don't have a clear picture of what that is or what it does.

Is this any different than copying the VHDX file, creating a new VM, and attaching the copied VHDX file?

Just want to verify....  Once I import the VM, I will need to go in and rename the computer and give it a new IP address.  What else will I need to do after that?  Thank you.  And thank you for the video.  Very helpful.

When you rename the virtual machine on Hyper-V does it also rename it inside? I'm asking this because you may run into problems having 2 machines with the same name (since you didn't shut down the original while making the copy).
