What is Value in Art?
Value refers to the lightness or darkness of a color, determining its relative importance and presence within a composition. By mastering the concept of value, artists can effectively convey depth, form, and mood in their artwork.

What is an Example of Contrast in Art?
Contrast occurs when elements within a piece of art are noticeably different, whether in terms of value, color, texture, or shape. For example, a portrait's stark contrast between light and shadow can create a dramatic and visually captivating effect.

In this video, we explore various painting techniques for manipulating value and contrast, from utilizing different tonal ranges to strategically positioning objects within a composition. Learn how to effectively use contrast to draw attention to focal points, create depth, and evoke emotion in your artwork.

Well a few things I disagree with. In landscape paintings more distant objects frequently become lighter not darker. I actually find it easier to darken colors rather than lighten them considering the transparency of most colors. I am sure that these are probably personal preferences or thoughts
