I first read this in fourth grade and was really confused but when the tv series came out i was the same age as violet and it was so sad. I cried the whole time. But i had never entirely thought of it this way, just because i was trying to understand that its a show made for kids talking about real lofe problems in a almost ridiculously impossible way. I’d never felt bad for Count Olaf, I still continue to hate him even after finding out his backstory. The only people I feel bad for are the victims in the movie and series.
