It's crazy how much AI has improved in 2023 🤯 (Stable Diffusion + Controlnet tutorial)

To recreate my setup, follow these guides in order on a Mac:
5. Now you should be able to get going if you installed and configured everything according to the guides and my video!

Please note that I made this video in October 2023, and then everything worked great with Stable Diffusion 1.5. Software is brittle, stuff gets updated, guides might get outdated, so you might run into problems if you try to recreate this too far into the future from here.

Love to see you discuss AI from a photographers perspective. I've been a digital commercial artist/creative for two decades, and only recently got into photography in the last several years. I also work in AI and have used a lot the imaging tools as well as LLMs. I go through spurts, using AI image making intensely, but then I tire of it, partly because I know it can create practically anything, and I know it will even get better results down the road. So I wait until the next big step comes out. For me it will be Dall-E 3, and I'll use it for work and muck around with it later this October.

Ironically, as much as I'm interested in AI, it's actually spurred me to take photos even more.

even on your laptop it should be seconds, not minutes to get results. Have you recently revisited it with some of the technical advancements?

Am I the only one who thinks the future of photography is going to be a bit boring when any random person can create works of art that possibly look even better than what we take photos of. Or that I, as a photographer, manipulate my original photo so much that it becomes fake. Is it still a point to be a photographer if you are asked, is this an AI image? When you have put in many hours of work to get it absolutely perfect. Will people care about your photos anymore?

This is amazing really. Guess its time to play with Stable Diffusion again. Do you prefer it over other tools? I use Leonardo AI, Adobe Firefly, but Midjourney is the most impressive.
