This is half the reason tapping guides exist.

Thanks for the informative video! Have you compared these cutting taps compare to the thread “forming” taps (the kind that don’t produce chips)? Just curious about relative strength/functionality. Thanks!

Excuse me! A tap was hurt during the filming of this video. That was the one I loaned you Andy. You didn’t have enough so I thought I would help you out. Then you go and break it - haha. If the consumer isn’t careful, they could break any tap. Not just yours.

No taps were hurt but what about those blanks? That looked like a perfectly good piece of pine. 😞

Pure quality product. It doesn't justify the price.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows to keep a tap straight.

Not sure this was explained, could you explain the advantages of a wood tap over a regular wood screw?

1. I got a chance to use my thread taps from the preorder. Worked great but I had to guess on the pilot hole size. Is there a way you or marc can make the complimentary drill bit suggestion chart easier to find on the website? I work out of a maker space, so I don't always have all my toolboxes with me.

What size hold do you need to drill for the 1/2 thread tap?

Do you offer a lifetime warranty on these taps? I would be pretty miffed if I snapped one after paying that price for them.

Sure. Maybe you’re seeing so, etching I’m not. Anyway, your channel, your call. Cheers!

how to not break a tap: don't be an idiot

To start straight and then lay the drill over to one side will break ANY tap. Derp.

I don't get why these are any better than normal taps that can cost between 1/2 & 1/3 what these do. The deep cutting feature is pretty much irrelevant since normal humidity changes will make the thread pitch change enough to make them unusable, even if they are only as deep as standard taps will go. Also you can get tap holders that have a standard 1/4, 3/8. or 1/2" square drive. Mount one of those on a hex to square drive adapter and you can have it in and out of you hex shank driver far faster than these in a drill. But if all you have is a drill the hex driver offers the same advantages the shank of these taps have. With these taps you can't drive them with a standard 1/4" hex driver. All in all seems like a big wast of money to me.

How to break something: snap it in half on purpose. Done.

Why break the tap on purpose? Of course it has to be held straight!
