Bonus Hack 2: When ordering a frappucino always ask for it to be put in a larger sized cup (grande in a venti cup, please.) That way you can either get free extra whipped cream or they just dump in the remaining frappucino left in the blender that would have just been dumped down the sink. This gives you the larger size while only paying the smaller price :)

Just because you’re watching your money doesn’t mean you can’t budget in Starbucks. I’ve been following Dave for about 3 years now and I’m on baby step 6, I definitely budget in Starbucks. I make my coffees most mornings myself but sometimes, I deserve a treat! Thanks for the tips!

Another hack is to ask for "no ice" or "light ice" for iced beverages! You get more drink for your buck!

As a barista I cannot stress enough why tipping is important. It really is not about the money it is about the thank you.

I am not saying this job is technically hard by any means it's just some days are harder than others.

Some other hacks are
1) Asking for cold brew no water. (You can water it down at the level you like.
2) Leaving positive reviews. If corporate sees this they become more inclined to bring in fancier machinery. NITRO, select reserve, etc..
3. Asking for iced drinks that are bigger than grandes gives you an extra shot most people don't know about. E.x. venti hot machiato

4. Affogotto shots on frapaccinos. Try it!
5. Try using heavy creme in your frapaccinos it will taste so much frothier.
6. Ask to sample a ristretto shot one day. The way espresso profile can change a drink is impressive.

Side Note: WE DO NOT CONTROL REWARDS the computer does so automatically. I believe it applies to the highest priced item.

Great hack! I didn't know about the short cup size, so that's super useful. I budget a little bit of "fun money" into every month and if I've still got some extra closer to the end of the month, I love to use it on Starbucks. And it's always nice to stretch those gift cards you get for Christmas with little hacks like this! I don't always drink Starbucks, but when I do I definitely make sure to rack up rewards to eventually get a free drink!

Go to a local coffee shop and don't spend money at Starbucks. They don't have good coffee anyways. Everything is over-roasted and hardly better than folgers or maxwell house.

I get my coffee at Starbucks and my sandwiches at Chick fil A - and I don't worry about the politics of the people who own the place - that's between them and God. I'm a capitalist :) I eat what tastes good.

First of all, I would like to apologize for the ignorance in the comment section. Clearly people have missed the point this video was trying to make.

Secondly, thank you so much for these tips! For those who can't go cold turkey on extra spending while in BS2, or for those who are well beyond BS2 and want to keep spending wisely, these are great tips!

George, hateful comments will always appear to be stronger. That's just because the amount of people who appreciate these videos don't have a firey passion to express their appreciation. Whereas, hateful people have the firey passion to express to everyone how much they hate it.

All in all, this is a great and clever video. Two thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻
