Kathrin Heinrich, MD, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Munich, Germany, explores the increasing complexity of treatment algorithms in colorectal cancer, driven by the need to define and manage smaller molecular subgroups. Starting with distinctions such as left and right-sided tumors, as well as RAS wild-type and BRAF-mutated cancers, the field is expanding to include more precise subcategories. Sex may also have a potential role of as a future stratifying factor in treatment decisions, reflecting the growing need for tailored approaches in oncology. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
