1. Has a "Mastermind"
2. Luxury cars in the video
3. Disparages 9-5 jobs
4. Invites you to a "live webinar"
5. Paid course
6. Under 35 years of age
7. No verifiable financial history
8. Runs Youtube or Facebook ads
9. "Free book"
10. Can't stop talking about mentors (This is only a red flag if #5 is true as well)

been wanting to do this for a while... I get the question: "is X a fake guru"? And it's frustrating since there really isn't time to cover them all. So I've created a checklist to find out yourself if the person you're following is a fake guru. Find the Red Flag list above along with the Scoring System.


EDIT: TO REITERATE, 1 RED FLAG DOES NOT MEAN SOMEONE IS A FAKE GURU! for example: Graham Stephan checks a few of these, and from what I can tell, he's legit. Just because I use someone as an example of a red flag does not mean I'm saying they are a Fake Guru, use your own judgement, and use the checklist.

Red flag: they say it's easy and anyone can do it. People have different skills and purposes. There are very few one size fits all things.

The irony is that the 9 to 5 people are running the economy. Imagine a life with no Cashiers, Cleaners, Chefs, Plumbers, Teachers, Nurses, Doctors, Mechanics etc! Yet these gurus talk down on people with Jobs.

They all claim that they are making a lot of money, and they have several business, but the majority of them (98%) dont show anything that can prove it.

Most of all, avoid signing up for anything that's offered for free as part of a kind of introduction. Also, avoid anything with countdown timers and claims of limited availability.
