One world record that nobody cares about is a record that I set in January 1981 at age 17. After learning how to do one (top) side, which is one color as well as one level, I saw someone do the Rubik's Cube right in front of me. I went home and worked on trying to figure out how to solve my Rubik's cube. In 1981 there was no internet and therefore no videos for me to watch. No one taught me anything and no books either. So no help at all. Just me laying on my bed with a pencil and paper and my Rubik's Cube in January 1981. It took me nine hours to learn how to solve the cube over and over. The people at my school were amazed. My stiff cube with paper stickers took me three minutes back then. There were 22 Rubik's Cube owners on my school bus. Today not using a speed cube but just using a regular Rubik's Cube it takes me about 90 seconds to do the cube. I have taught myself how to do step three, the first two levels five different ways. I can do step four two different ways of switching two bottom corners and one way of switching all four bottom corners. I know two ways of doing step five, turning the four bottom corners to solved position. Step six for me is doing the bottom cross and I do that one way. There are three step sevens depending on how many colored bottom level colored squares are left, four or three. The step seven that involves three squares I can do five ways. I can solve Rubik's Cube four ways. One way just uses three algorythms.
