Oh yes/ the 70-200 2.8 is always a good choice!
I bought the Canon EF 70-200 2.8 NonIS!
It works well since over 15 years now and is always super sharp.
I’m always surprised for the great pictures I take with that lens and the same time I’m always a little bit sad that I don’t use it more.
Most times i prefer the 300 2.8 - so you are right - it’s underrated!

This is why I can’t wait for the r7ii. Can use a 70-200 f2.8 and get 112-320m. I think that would be a great range. Yes it would be with an f4.5 depth of field but better than having to pay 16-17k for an r5ii and the canon 100-300 f2.8. Obviously if I’m shooting pro sports then the more expensive set up would be best. But otherwise the set up mentioned would be pretty damn good for most others.
Unfortunately it appears the r7ii won’t be out till after summer or even next year. Come on Canon get this baby out.

Amazing photos and video. We novice surely appreciate the content. I went with the (L) series 70-300mm f4-5.6 USM on my R6 MKII. Slower than f/2.8 but the R6II is forgiving at higher ISOs. I’m primarily a daytime sports shooter of my little grandson’s events. I got a good deal on a secondhand model. The 70-200 f/2.8 and 70-300 f/4-5.6 are corner to middle to corner sharp at any focal length. I’m subscribed and will be back for more educating 👋🏾

Great lens. Curious what camera settings are your go too with that lens. Shutter Speed, F stop, ISO, etc...

I disagreed with your video thumbnail that says it is 'underrated', but agree with your title and everything you said in the video (nice pictures you took with it by the way!). I think it is actually very highly rated and one of the main lenses that anyone shooting sports should try to get their hands on. The f2.8 is great for capturing the action (especially in lower light indoor settings) and the 70-200 gives good range around a volleyball/basketball court or even football/soccer field. I shoot Sony and the Sony 70-200 f2.8 GM runs about CAD$3, 500, so not the cheapest lens but great quality and versatility. There are other options from Tamron and Sigma that can get you the f2.8 with similar focal distance at lower price. In the really poor lit gyms I find myself shooting more with an 85mm f1.8 to be able to shoot at 1/1000 without excessive ISO, but otherwise the 70-200 is the go-to.

Thank you for the video. Do you work for the college or as a free lance ?

Underrated??? Nope, never has been. I use mine every day and have forever. Great lens for all kinds of sports....Period!!! I use the 70-200mm and the 24-70mm 90% of the time.

Would this lens be a better option for soccer? My son is currently using the 70-300 f4-4.6 and we wanted to know if this lens would improve the images
