Ukraine is triggering mobile warfare. It’s not about the pocket or end game, it’s forcing Russia to mobilise in unplanned way, and then hitting the unplanned mobile units with artillery and air strikes. The damage will be insane.

Russians in the comments - remind us, what is it your men are dying for?

One interesting advantage of this action for the Ukrainians will be seen in how Russia responds. I mean that Russias typical style of attack has been to leverage its heavy artillery, such a scene in Bakhmut, Avdivika and across the frontline. From a Russian perspective this is perfectly acceptable considering it’s not their own own territory and people.

However, to use the same tactics against Russian towns and cities with remnants of the Russian population would be a huge PR loss for the Kremlin & if they chose to attack using a different ‘doctrine’ they will undoubtedly have a costly learning curve resulting in manpower, material and time resources wasted.

Really a lose-lose for Russia unless they can magically transform into an effective combined arms force with good logistics and leadership.

This is the most badass "up yours" I've seen in a long time. The sass of the ukrainians is just beautiful. The humiliation for Putin is truly 😗🤌

Maybe it is about disruption, dilution and putting doubt in the minds of Putin's hierarchy.

Ever since the start of the war the West have given Ukraine just enough to hold and never win, at the cost of tens of thousands of Ukrainians. Theres no reason why NATO countries could not have ramped up arms production to supply overwhelming amounts of hi-tech arms. Ukraine have had enough and have gone into Russia against the 'instructuons' of NATO and good on them maybe it will shake some complacent politicians up.

I talked to my people on Friday and he said they are getting calls from folks demanding that we finally remove all weapon restrictions. I was glad to hear people are waking up and doing something!

Smart tactics. At the onset all the experts were quick to say it was a bad idea. Now dig in and hang on.

Ukraine has stopped playing by rules that suit Russia which gave them the initiative at least in some areas, so they can pick and choose where to fight so Russia will divert assets to border protection.
It also serves as a warning to Belarus who allowed Putin to use their territory as a platform.

So Ukraines moves into Russia with 3 brigades equalling 10-15k men. They have not been able to hold their eastern front for 10 months straight (Oct ‘23). Now they think the best move is to overextend to a new front, let alone into Russia? Am I missing something? Why is everyone celebrating as if this will last?

Negotiating tactic, swap territory seized by Ukraine for territory seized by Russia since 2014.

It happened just after they received the F16. Probably not a coincidence
