Some say the Star Wars prequels have bad acting or clunky dialogue but Ewan McGregor recently revealed in an interview why Attack of the Clones in particular feels awkward at times. It was all dubbed/ADR, THE WHOLE MOVIE.

That just makes the movie impressive cause I genuinely cannot tell, at least most of the time. Often with dubs there are obvious moments where you’re like “Hold up, that doesn’t sync up, ” although tbf that is often caused by saying the same thing in a different language takes a different time, and this dub was just redoing the same English. Either way, they did a good job.

I never thought episode ll was clunky or awkward aside from the scenes that were meant to be. Also I wonder if they had to do the same for revenge of the sith, or if they fixed the problem by then.

So everyone watched a dubbed version of the movie

Funny, I watched the movies dubbed, so I guess we got the better end of the deal (cause the actors are way more used to acting while watching a screen and reading lines XD

Attack of the Clones is the first *major* film to use Digital Cams, right ? Pretty Impressive.
And personally, I like the performance in AOTC, especially Hayden's.

As someone who does audio engineering as a hobby, this is fustrating enough to even think about. But I am also annoyed by "Hummed in the same frequency as ghe human voice." because yhe human voice hums in a whole big spectrum of frequencies. And this spectrum is also different when it comes to a male voice compared to a female voice. But I am nitpicky and corrective so ook

What was weird was hayden trying to match the cadence of james earl jones. He shouldn’t have. Made him sound slow and in puberty..

Why it take this long to reveal? So it wasn’t the people‘s fault their voices were wrong at times it was because of the cameras that covered their actual voices with noise

Yet, Walt Disney's "Swiss Family Robinson (directed by Ken Annakin) was completely dubbed as well. It contributed, but it wasn't the whole reason for The Attack of the Clones' lack of appeal.

Wow, in that case i praise the prequels further

There's great voice acting in some animated movies. This is interesting, but I don't believe that it negates many of the criticisms at all.

Ok, so how do they explain the Phantom Menace, which was shot on film? Attack of the clones was the first digital one..

Almost all movie dialogue is dubbed nowadays. This is not even noteworthy.

So why did they keep doing it for the other prequels?

Basically all movies nowadays are dubbed.

I am totally unconvinced. ADR is very common in action movies, often for 80% plus of the runtime. ADR does not excuse the unconvincing expressions on the actors faces, or the terrible of lines of dialogue they were asked to deliver, nor George Lucas's pathological disinterest in actors.

Oh wow...the things you learn! I still love Attack Of The Clones! I don't get how y'all think it's towards the bottom of the Star Wars pile.
