India: Delhi's IGI and Chennai Airports Receive Bomb Threat, Flights Delayed
At least 40 Indian airports, 50 hospitals, one Maharashtra state college and a government authority building received bomb threats via email on June 18. As per the police, the hospitals received threatening emails, claiming that bombs were planted under the beds which could destroy the hospitals upon detonation. However, later all these emails were found to be a hoax following sabotage checks by security agencies that lasted for four hours at all the locations. Also, the passenger movements at the airports were kept unhindered. However, the security was increased at these places as part of proactive measures. The Mumbai Police meanwhile confirmed that the threatening emails were sent to all these hospitals using a VPN network. An investigation is also underway to find the identity and the motive of the sender.
