Boeing's beleaguered Starliner returns to Earth on without the astronauts who traveled in it to the International Space Station, after NASA deemed the risk too great. The gumdrop-shaped capsule landed gently at the White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico at approximately 0401 GMT Saturday, its descent slowed by parachutes and cushioned by airbags, having departed the ISS around six hours earlier.

For a second there, I thought that title said, "Boeing's unscrewed Starliner lands. . ."

Glad it made it back OK but also glad NASA decided against bringing the astronauts back on it. Better to error on the side of caution.

That it was the first time a US capsule was coming in for a landing on land. The parachutes and the bouncy house seemed to have done the trick. That made any oddity in thrusters an issue, because it couldn't be destroyed if they couldn't target the landing correctly.

Well dang, they could've came home after all. I bet they feel a little bummed now but it's better safe than sorry.

Source on this video? It looks like it’s been cut from a livestream if I’m not mistaken.

Yes, a beautiful sight. It's a pity the shoddy bit of kit couldn't have guaranteed the safe return to earth of the astronauts. I hope, when they eventually return to earth, that they sue both Boeing and NASA for millions.

Will they ask Russian help to bring back astronauts?

They have stranded those poor souls up there for nothing. They should have trusted their spacecraft and come home in it
