After a few heat cycles on the engine it is a good idea to re-torque the nuts on the exhaust manifold.
This is why some people have to replace the gaskets again after a few thousand miles as they don't re-torque the nuts.

Eric,
My wife and I have been watching your current posts for a couple months now. Recently, we lost our house due to injuries and drastic cuts in income. Luckily, I had been remodeling our 32’ class A motorhome. (I’m a woodworker and carpenter). We sold much of our belongings and moved into the RV. We decided to go back to the beginning of your adventure and watch you and Jax conquer! I just wanted to thank you for what you do. You are our favorite! Battling everything life is throwing at us, your videos are a huge part of settling my crazy anxiety issues and give me confidence that we can do this. Love your honesty and incredible attitude toward this lifestyle. Thank you! We are fortunate to have found you. We will overcome. We will join patreon and give $$ as soon as is possible. You deserve all the success from your work. Hope to one day shake your hand.
Kev

I worked at a muffler shop for a while and we always recommend that people come back 3-4 weeks later to have the bolts re-torked to prevent them from backing out. Just a thought.

Thanks for not using sandpaper...I cringed when you said that...lol

Another great video, Eric!! Thanks!!!

I have NEVER had anything good to say about exhaust work. You made it almost sound like fun.

That's fantastic that you had a mechanic friend in the area to help you get through that. It does sound awesome right now! Hope you can avoid the "30 day curse." Jax really needs a reward for all he did to help.

Eric, you have amazing friends. The old saying “You get what you give”. You are a great guy! Cheers and be safe.

PERMATEX brand of copper spray works very well also. I run a exhaust shop for the past 35 years and the copper spray on all gasket-head and manifold surfaces has been a real insurance policy. Very few come backs.

Good info for a chick to have. Can’t say I’ll personally be doing my own RV engine repairs. But I appreciate you’re sharing your experience-so at the very least I’ll know enough to speak the language and know what to expect when I get out there. Good friends are priceless. Stay safe.

Not a troll comment at all Eric. This is Brian and Peanut from what used to be Hightower-Deutsche. You have come a long ways from the parking lot at Evergreen. If you don't remember us right off just remember the nice graduation gift and birthday gift also through WU. So proud of you and what you have accomplished my friend. P.S. My NF coffee mug was delivered in pieces and hopefully one day I will have another chance to have one packaged by you and Jax. You should msg me so I know where to send another care pack for Jax. Best wishes to you! Brian

Being a mechanic I have to tell you it’s called an exhaust manifold Very common problem.Thankfully you did not use sandpaper lol 😂 Using the anti-seize is a big plus because if you have to do it again they will come out like butter..I just did one at my shop in a van no room whatsoever real pain in the butt...Thanks for the video I enjoyed it😎💯

Headers, dual catalytic converters and a TRUE dual exhaust. This was for my 78 Trans Am and it was perfect. Obviously not a V10 pulling a Class A but was a very reliable daily driver as a 6.6 Pontiac for many years. Maybe most rigs need some old school updating? At least headers? Great stuff from you and thanks for sharing your travels and hassles. Be safe

Eric, from 1999 to 2005 the Ford V10 with triton heads only had 3 threads on every spark plug on the V8 and V10's. From 2006 to today it is fixed you will not be blowing any spark plugs and the spark plug torque is 27 pounds if you want to tune it up. Look it up. From 1999 the torque was only 7 pounds, and that is what Ford said, then we got rid of our motorhome because we couldn't understand how the spark plugs would stay in at 7pounds. So warn people 1999 to 2005 No Good, 2006 and up is good. We enjoy watching your videos and love it when Jax talks, after all he's the star of the show.

"Lost in America" - !!! give it another chance and watch the whole thing. It's one of the best RV films.

I've never done this but on Steves small engine Saloon on utube he showed using 50/50 mix of atf fluid and acetone. Came off like magic. No heat necessary.

I’ll be tackling the same project this week on our 2000 pace arrow. Thanks for the heads up on bolts and break cleaner.

It’s mostly big Blocks in class A’s, not enough air flow to keep the manifolds cool that’s why I did Headers. Manifolds are pushing all that air from 4-5 cylinders through one opening, headers have a tube for each cylinder before going into one which gets the air out faster which means more power and better MPG’s.
Look into the Banks torque kit for the V10 👍

You _MUST_ go back & watch _”Lost In America”_ in its entirety! ❤️. I do agree with you that _”RV”_ starring Robin Williams is #1 in my opinion but this film is a close 2nd.
This was Albert Brooks best-received film in the ‘70s-‘80s; it featured Brooks & Julie Hagerty as a couple who leave their yuppie lifestyle and drop out of society to live in a Winnebago as they have always dreamed of doing, meeting disappointment along the way. The great Garry Marshall also stars in this flick as the casino manager!
I saw this film as a kid (about 8-10yrs old). This movie along with my Grandparent’s Airstream trailer & Argosy motorhome is what started my passion for RVs! 👍❤️👍

My research on my V-10 showed that it was the first two years of production that these engines suffered from blown out sparkplugs. Keep RV'n.
