Just wanted to pin a comment to put more exaggeration on this because I dont think I did enough in the video.

BUT IT'S MUCH MORE LIKELY THERE ARE OTHER ALTERNATIVES pertaining to why the VA was let go.

I highlight at 4:04 that it could pertain to contract issues, which is the much more likely scenario. Wished I had pinpointed more on that in the video.

Her getting fired for supporting the boycott is complete misinformation.
Argenti VA, who is from the same agency was also replaced. Based on this the most likely reason is contract issues.
Not to mention that all of the other VAs, many who were WAY more vocal, still voice their characters.
Yet, people decided to harass her under that assumption.

Regardless of the reasons, what people were saying to HouHou va was pure vile. The article conveniently glazes over all the horrible things she was being called.
I honestly don’t know how I would react if I saw a friend getting those kinda messages. I don’t blame Val personally, even though I agree there is a point where you just gotta understand Twitter will be Twitter and move on.

Just an FYI, but none of the stuff you are talking about is actually confirmed and there is plenty of reason to believe that it is in fact wrong.

Courtney Lin and Adam Michael Gold (Argenti and Tail) are represented by the same Agency and are both SAG-AFTRA Voice Actors. SAG voice actors cannot work on non-Union Video Game jobs right now because of an ongoing Strike, unless they have a pre-existing contract that pre-dates the strike action or if the Recording Studio signs the NAVA AI Rider, which is basically an agreement not to use AI for voice work.

Here is where it gets kind of complicated because we don't actually know what is happening on the backend, but I suspect that both of these voice actors were replaced because of complications related to their contract situation and the looming strike action, not anything related to the boycott or any of their public statements. Different agencies handle things differently and I think what may be happening is that their agency wanted to make sure that if any long term contracts were signed, that favorable terms were set, given that the characters that these VAs were playing are not plot central characters and only appear in the story irregularly. When you don't know how long it will be until you will be asked to voice the characters again, a long term contract is not very appealing unless you are getting a good rate, because you aren't getting a lot of work from the contract but you are locking yourself into a fixed price for a long time.

What probably happened is that contract negotiations broke down and the agency couldn't come to an agreement with the Recording Studio for a long term contract. So, rather than losing the voices of Argenti and Huohuo for the duration of the strike action, they simply decided to recast. They can't come to an agreement before the strike was imminent, and both of the VAs were going to be prohibited from working on the games for however long the strike went on unless a contract could be agreed upon, so you just recast with someone that doesn't present any of these issues. Because studios have known that the strike was imminent for many months and would have been planning for production continuity regarding availability of SAG voice actors. Some SAG VAs probably have long term contracts in place that allow them to work through the strike. Others may be non-SAG VAs that are unaffected by the strike. But for Courtney and Adam, they are both SAG actors and they are both represented by the same agency. So, it suggests that something related to the agency and the strike action are at fault, not anything else.

Additionally, Courtney's comments were like a couple weeks ago. They had replaced her as Huohuo on 30 July. The Hoyoverse Boycott wasn't even a thing until 16 July. It takes a bit longer than a week or so to re-cast and re-record the voices for a character. She was being replaced before any of the stuff related to the "boycott" happened. So, the entire premise of this video and the article that you are referencing is simply wrong.

Also, there is nothing that indicates Valeria Rodriguez has been replaced as Sucrose. She isn't a SAG voice actor and Sucrose isn't actively involved in the story presently. Her comments aren't even about Courtney being replaced. Her comments were directed at people who were harassing Courtney on Twitter.

As much as I think Soukaku’s new voice lines are good I prefer her older ones. They fit her so much better as an Oni. As a Soukaku/Ellen Joe main I was definitely shocked. 1.0 voice lines were just so memorable and precious.

I don't think her replacement is connected to the boycott anyway cuz Sucrose's VA is still Valeria and Topaz's VA is still Sam and Owlbert is still the same Owlbert. They're also vocal about it. But I wouldn't be surprised if Valeria gets a replacement tho after all that instigation and negative engagements. Not that I'll be surprised if she gets too stay too tho lmao 🤣

This video is slightly misleading and I can point to the comment section that actually word it better than I can but I want to touch on something no one on YouTube or twitter for that matter want to speak on. Which is since when do we as a community support or back racists in these spaces ? Since when??? I don’t care if you CC do not support or feel apathetic about the boycotting that’s on you. If you can sleep at night great. My issue is the fact this entire space that is now also coming from the HSR community- we are being too lenient on racists who are getting more vocal ans more bold on harassing. Especially our VA’s and our community is doing jacksquat about it. Instead of even trying to understand Val people are making fun of them, they’re defending their friend against racists. Said racists who were already targeting that VA then shifted their attention to Val. And sure you can say “just ignore it” but ignoring it doesn’t help. Y’all (HSR community) ignored these racists and look where y’all are now. Look what’s infesting your community. Ignoring it? Doesn’t work if never works YALL showed how much you care about these VA’s by not backing them or giving that VA’s friend support. Even if you find it “aggressive” and “unprofessional” how exactly is anyone suppose to react or respond when they are getting dog piled on and no in either community cares enough to lend them support ?
