What about just being a VAR instead of an on field ref?

To progress through the ranks to become a referee at the highest levels takes many years, so ex players would need to make the switch in their mid 20s to make it worth their while. The average age of referees has been forced down over the last couple decades because they have to be very fit and mobile to keep up with the game. The assistant referees have to be as fast as the players to stay in line with the second last defender to be able to give offside decisions. VAR only kicks in at the highest level of games, so that can't be relied on to get offside decisions correct at 2nd tier levels.

Shaka's heavy breathing on his mic is so off-putting.

VAR's ruining the beautiful game the way Instant replay ruined american football. Technology doesn't always improve things.

Doesn't sound like a step forward sounds like a blatant step into match fixing

The premier league makes too much money to not be able to afford to pay referees a living wage

But referees only get to ref till about 45 at highest. Unless they only work in VAR.

So its not gonna be appealing to x footballers footballers.

Car should only be for clear and obvious so should have a time limit on it / if can’t decide if ref made wrong decision in a min the decision stays - I’d rather have wrong decisions and game flows than it stops every few mins while they look at stuff

I love how there is no context about which game they're talking about. Individually ran youtube channels aren't this bad. You are owned by Disney ffs!

Hahaha how bad is production that Shaka’s heavy breathing is heard in the background this is like the 5th video I’ve heard it. Surely mute the mic haha…. Where does all the money go? This is espn is it not? It’s like a kid at homes produced this 😂
