I watched the live webinar and had seen a condensed preview as part of RMI's Cleantech revolution outline: an impressive analysis that is substantiated by lots of data. Of course, this type of research depends a great deal on its assumptions but when I think of the incredible speed and breadth of battery research wordwide I'm inclined to think that if anything, RMI's team might underestimate. But where most people focus just one or two factors for mineral use like battery chemistry improvements or recycling they look at other factors like higher energy density, reuse and lifetime extension, improvements in vehicle efficiency and efficient mobility with transit and urban planning.
