I've been watching all videos of you @cyclingabout and now I've seen this and I'm thrilled. I'm Turkish and I've cycled around many parts of Turkey but seeing such an appreciation makes me really happy!

Also a tip to anyone cycling through Europe, Switzerland is the best country I've ever cycled in, don't be afraid of elevation or of their crazy prices! The Swiss are incredibly outdoorsy so finding somewhere to camp was easy, even if looking in a residential area I was always offered some land to pitch my tent often without even asking. There are bike trails all over the country and smooth concrete switchbacks if you want to take it easier on the ways up. If you're worried about the prices, I easily went a month there without paying for any accomodation, and lived quite comfortably on less than $5 a day - just stick to going to Lidl! Best wildcamp of my life was pushing my bike up past Zermatt and sleeping on the side of the Matterhorn. Not to be missed!

This was great! Did you ever consider doing a video on the best car-free bike paths in the world? That would be amazing!

I'm an American who has toured approximately 35, 000 miles over 40 years in several different countries. The six months I spent in Australia was my favorite tour and the first time I used a mtn bike. Everyone who visits there will see animals and plants like no where else in the world and the people are very welcoming. I also really enjoyed New Zealand for the same reasons. Another place I really enjoyed for the remoteness and wilderness is Northern Canada and Alaska. A coast to coast ride across Canada in the summer is an unforgettable. I've been all over the U.S. but it is getting to scary with the amount of traffic. One exception is a ride along the Continental Divide route which is mostly gravel road or the Trans America Trail (an off-road motorcycle route) again mostly gravel. I did the Baja Divide route recently and agree, once you get passed the border towns, the Mexicans are very welcoming people.

I feel like New Zealand is a really underrated pick. Whenever I read a blog with mixed opinions on NZ, it’s because they’ve stuck to the main roads. You can cross most of the country on quiet off-road tracks and the diversity of scenery in such a small area is unreal.

I guessed Tajikistan would be #1, never would’ve expected Turkey!

Gutted than I can’t visit Iran as a UK passport holder though.

I've lost count how many times I've watched this video, and it's never failed to lift my spirit every time! So many amazing places to daydream about...

Italy is my absolute favourite, because of the change of landscape, beautiful cities, density of very good small roads, food, wine, accomodations and weather. Last time I was there, I made a 500 km trip from Bari to Lamezia Terme, both airport cities. For this year a trip from Bergamo to Pisa was planned, but I think it will be canceled..

Amazing video, as always!
You must try Portugal! It has the third longest road in the world (738kms) and it's right in the middle of the country from the southest point to the northest point. You will find the most diverse landscapes, with tons of lakes for you to bathe in and everyone will offer you food if they see you or acommodation. It was my best bike trip ever.

My top three are The Netherlands (or Holland), The United States, and Belgium. Holland was an absolute revelation for me. Fantastic cycling paths with dedicated signage, easy cycling in the cities, beautiful countryside, lots of camping, history, friendly people, spectacular food, wonderful beers, and the most laid-back and welcoming spirit anywhere.

Great video, thanks for sharing! I only have experience in Europe. We very much appreciated Portugal and Sardinia (Italie). Nice people and beautiful landscapes with quiet country roads.
I'm not french, but living in France for 30 years now, if you want a country with all possible landscapes and cultures, it is the place to cycle ! And a small word about my native country, the Netherlands, if you want to meet other persons on a bike, and if you like separate cycling roads just everywhere !

Thanks for sharing. I had a great time touring in the UK just outside peak season - lots of quiet roads, old walls and picturesque bucolic vistas. Short distances between food and refreshments too! I am surprised that SE Asia was not represented in the top ten.

Alex! I hope you're doing amazingly. I'm enjoying the inspiration your content gives me. Every time I see you pop up on my feed you remind me I'd like to make a bike trip around Taiwan someday!

This was like a virtual bike adventure in the midst of the lockdown. It felt so good. Thanks for the compilation. I have Pamir highway on my list for later this year. Hoping the pandemic would end before then. Cheers!

My wife and I cycled Canada to South America a few years ago on a tandem. We absolutely loved Colombia for cycling. Every day we would be passed by group rides with 10’s of people in the ride.
