Beautifully done Dan. I'm over here from Townsend's love their channel. But some of your information is beneficial for me as well, moving back to the family ranch in North Dakota. 😊 Thank you for sharing your knowledge with everyone!

Thanks for that Practical yet Easy too over look addition too a Traditional Fire starting Method, This Could save lives. Don't always have a lighter but I do always have ammo, when trekking trough the Wilds of B.C. where fire making is as challenging as it gets.

Hey, Dan, good idea thanks. But try this...no pliers. Just use you knife handle or a stone and put the bullet neck on a rock and tap around the circumference of the shell. It expands the brass allowing you to pull the bullet out with you fingers. I used to do that as a kid to get powder for my homemade cannons.

Very cool. Most of the times I don't carry a weapon, just to camp. But will add that secert ingredient to my fire making bag. Thanks.

The nice thing about a Ferro rod is anything flammable will light immediately..
I carry a 50/50 mix of diesel fuel and Coleman fuel, works great rain or shine.

Awesome video! With a method that easy i may never actually try the traditional way. That looked much faster and easier to pull off.

This was very cool! I loved the intro and editing gags (I'm sure there's a proper term, but I'm sure you get what I mean). Really well shot, well framed, and it looks like you had as much fun doing the demo, as you did in the editing room Dan. 👍🏻👍🏻

Great info. I have played with powder and it works awesome. Just remember, do not use your last round. 🤪

Alot of people did this in the 19th century with BP. It works really good. They had a powder horn for the most part so they could use more and even cartridges were BP.
PRO TIP: If you want a fool proof fire starter. Wet black powder in water. It will come pasty. Take patches for muzzle loading or the wife's makeup pads, and soak them in the wet BP.
let them dry. NOT IN THE SUN OR NEAR ANYTHING HOT. BP is extremely sensitive!
Whenever you need fire, one spark from a flint and steel, or a sun beam from a magnifying glass, a simple static spark from your own skin and boom. FIRE!

Nice technique I'll have to experiment with a few different items to see if I can achieve something similar without the bullets being in the UK...
