We wanted to go over how Google Home and Alexa or Google Home and Amazon Echo Match Up solely when it comes to their Smart Home Features. Much of Smart Home Automation is ran through these two devices so a good review was necessary for both Alexa and Google Home. Since Sonos can be used with Alexa we put Sonos as part of this. There are plenty of videos out there that compare the features of Google Home and Alexa to see which is better. Google Home or Alexa.

In this video I am going to compare the two but only relating to their Smart Home Capabilities. So I won't be comparing the speakers clarity and sleakness of the design.

First lets start by how customizable Google and Alexa are: Google seems to be more customizable in almost every way besides the wake word which we will get to. For example, when I use google with IFTTT app I can customize commands to give it, like: “its time to work out” and then it will turn on all my gym lights. Then I can also have google give me a custom reply back like: “Your looking better already”.

When you are talking about how multi light thing for google doesn’t work, you could just go to routines in google and turn all of your downstairs lights on. If you set your routine name to turn downstairs lights on, then it will take it as a routine and switch all the selected lights on while they still belong to certain areas of the Downstairs

This is not true. You can do do everything on the Alexa app and it is better than Google home. You need to use IFTTT for Google but in Alexa they have all the options in their app

Question: why you use IFTTT to set up work mode rather than just using routine? Routine should do the jobif you just want to use 'work out' to trigger lights and garage.

Google will no longer work with IFTTT starting August 2019.

I thought maybe this video was old because I never heard of using "trigger" nor ever had to. As for automation, Alexa has routines that can do everything you just describe only google can do. My Alexa turns on whatever lights, responds the way I want it to, and plays specific songs that I want it to and all I say is "Alexa, set the mood" or "Alexa, turn on my garage" and it turns my lights on, welcomes me, and starts playing the music I want it to. My Alexa does everything you just stated in the video that it can't. Obviously you love google, but don't compare something unless you actually know everything about the product. js
